JET SETTING
The British magazin "Traveller" rated the island of Hvar among the 10 most beautiful Islands in the world. But does the island really deserve this award? We think – yes, it does!!!
Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, however the numerous yachts that lie at anchor in the town’s harbour speak for themselves. But what is it that makes the charm and the beauty of this island?
Hvar offers the best of what the Adriatic Sea has to offer - .... plenty of sun, crystal clear sea, a marvellous coastline and beautiful beaches, mild climate, vine yards and olive groves combined with a breathtaking architectural setting.
The town of Hvar, which bears the same name as the Island, is the center of the Island. It is shaped by church steeples made of stone, an impressive fortress towering over the city and the old palace. In 1612, Europe’s first public theater was founded here.
Due to heavy boat traffic, the beaches in Hvar are not as beautiful as the many beaches on the Pakleni Otoci, the small islands located in front of the town. Spending the day on one of the islands is particularly charming because it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the sun and the sea in the seclusion of many wooded bays (clothing and nudist beaches).
Taxi-boats to the islands run from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at a price of 20-40 Kuna (return ticket). There are bars and restaurants on the islands.
Hot nights & cool drinks
When going out at night, you will see why Hvar is so popular among young people. The town is packed with bars, clubs, cafes and all sorts of events.
It really is a unique atmosphere, and things get going from 11.00 p.m. Before that it is the time for families taking a stroll down the beautiful promenade or enjoying the numerous restaurants and ice-cafes.
Hardly ever will you experience an atmosphere as in the Carpe Diem, a bar that you hear the wildest stories of. It is the perfect place to sip your cocktkail, hang out and dance to great music. It is one of the best and trendiest clubs/bars around the Adriatic Sea.

But also the other bars located along the harbour promenade, such as the “Nautika” or the “Kiva”, leave nothing to be desired.
The “Sidro“ is the meeting point for the locals offering great coffee and reasonable prices.
Everyone here will find his or her favourite bar or cafe for a refreshing drink.
The Island’s Culinary Delights
It is hard to choose from the many good restaurants in Hvar.
Especially good food is available in the small “Konobas” located in the many narrow alleys (you will need a reservation during high-season). Strolling down the little alleys you will surely find your favourite restaurant.
Of course, there is also fast food available, if just a quick hamburger or pizza is needed.
There are two big restaurants at the harbour and on the main square that specialize in pizza. They offer a wide selection of food in good quantities.
If you travel by car, you should pay a visit to the villages in the direct vicinity of Hvar. The restaurant "Mala Milna" in the village of Milna (5 Km away from Hvar) is to be recommended. Try the grilled wild boar, it is delicious.

Another attraction not to miss out is the place Vidikovac (15km away from Hvar). The restaurant offers you delicious goat meat, chevon, under the “Peka“ (bell) served with home-grown vegetables (reservation is required).
Not quite cheap but always worth the money.
